Supporting Hedgehog Highway Project

The Town Council agreed to support the Hedgehogs R Us Highways Project, which aims to raise awareness around the the plight of hedgehogs.

With numbers in decline and hedgehog awareness on the rise, there has never been a better time to get involved in hedgehog conservation. A Hedgehog Highway is a 5 inch gap in a fence and is essential in the battle to prevent the extinction of the hedgehog. This gap allows them to forage for food, access nesting sites and meet other hedgehogs. The hedgehog shaped fence surrounds raise awareness to the plight of hedgehogs, create talking points and encourage others to take part in the project. The Council will be purchasing a box of 50 Hedgehog Highways.

Chair of the Environmental Committee, Coun Pam Jones, said " The Hedgehog Highways will be available for collection from the Town Council office on a first come, first-served basis and we encourage any resident that would like to take part to pop into the office any time between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday, to collect their Hedgehog Highway."

*All Hedgehog Highways have now been claimed - thank you for your support!
