D Day 80 – Dronfield Remembers

Beacon lighting ceremonies were held across the country on Thursday 6th June, to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. In Dronfield, residents gathered at Sindelfingen Park to pay their respects.

The service was led by Reverend Ian Price, with a series of prayers and readings. The Mayor, Cllr Pam Jones, read The International Tribute and laid a commemorative wreath at the beacon. The service concluded at 9:15pm with the symbolic lighting of the beacon, signifying the enduring spirit of hope and freedom, honouring the ultimate sacrifice made by those brave souls.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and remembering the fallen. A special thank you to Loran Stonehouse, the Outside Services Team and Keith Burkitt for their organisation, support and services on the night.
