Defib Relocated

The defibrillator at the former Dronfield Woodhouse Sports and Social Club has been relocated to the Dronfield Woodhouse Bowling Club.

In addition, all Town Council defibrillators have recently received new pads, batteries, and updated signage.

A defibrillator is a device that can give someone's heart an electric shock when it has stopped beating normally in sudden cardiac arrest. It works by checking the heart's rhythm once the pads are placed on their chest and giving them a shock if needed. Anyone can use a defibrillator, training is not required.

The defibrillators are registered on The Circuit, the national defibrillator network. Locations from The Circuit are shared with 999 call handlers, so dispatchers can direct bystanders straight to the nearest defibrillator.

This increases the chances of defibrillators being used quickly and significantly improves the chances of a successful resuscitation.

Dronfield Councillor, Alex Dale, commented 'Many lives are saved each year in the UK by having these devices available. We want our residents to have the best chance of survival from cardiac arrest, and public access to defibs is key to achieving this. Dronfield is fortunate to have more than 50 defibs fitted throughout our town to benefit those in need.'
