Remembrance Day Parade - Sunday, 10th November
On the second Sunday in November each year, residents of Dronfield come together to commemorate and remember those who have lost their lives while serving in the armed forces.
With similar ceremonies held across the country, the annual parade begins on School Lane and then walks up Church Street and High Street, before arriving in the Library Gardens. A service then takes place at the War Memorial. A minute's silence is observed, hymns will be sung, and local organisations are invited to lay a wreath to honour those who served and sacrificed.
The programme for the event is as follows:
10:15am - The parade will assemble in School Lane.
10:35am - The parade departs.
10:45am - The parade arrives at the War Memorial. Hymns will then be sung.
10:55am - The Last Post will be played.
11am - Two minutes silence. The naming of the war dead will be read out before local groups and organisations lay wreaths at the base of the Memorial. This will be followed by further hymns and prayers before the parade makes its way back down High Street to School Lane.
Please be advised that there will be road closures in place on High Street, Church Street, Lea Road and School Lane from 10am -11:30am, to enable the parade to take place. This also means access to the Civic Centre car park will be restricted.
