Allotments meeting

Dronfield Town Council held a public meeting at the Civic Hall on Tuesday, 5th November, regarding the future management of the four allotment sites in the town. The event was attended by around 120 allotment holders. The Council has recently been informed that the current Chair of the Dronfield Allotment Society will be standing down and, with this in mind, the meeting covered the future management of the allotments, along with the suggested formation of a new committee with a new, updated constitution and leases in place.

Attendees were asked to express an interest if they wanted to be involved in the creation of the new committee and councillors also took questions.

As members of the National Allotment Society, the Town Council's aim is to provide, promote and preserve the allotments and the social and environmental benefits of growing sites. With the Town Council's support, a renewed setup for the Dronfield Allotment Society will help provide thriving allotment spaces for residents for many future generations.
